BERTONE INTRODUCES NEW DESIGN DETAILS OF THE RUNABOUT IN ICONIC ITALIAN LANDSCAPES
March 4, 2025 – Bertone presents a fresh perspective on the Bertone RUNABOUT, revealing new digital previews that showcase the model in stunning Italian landscapes. These images highlight the latest refinements, reinforcing its distinctive blend of heritage and cutting-edge design.
The new Bertone RUNABOUT marks a new chapter in the brand’s legacy with the introduction of the first model in the Bertone Classic Collection, reinterpreting the bold styling of the original 1969 Runabout.
This limited-edition model is set to redefine modern driving dynamics. Only 25 units will be produced worldwide, at a starting price of EUR 350,000 (excluding VAT). Production is scheduled to begin in mid-2026, and pre-orders are now open.
Two unique configurations.
The Bertone RUNABOUT offers two unique configurations, each crafted to provide an unmatched open-air experience:
- Barchetta: For purists who crave an unfiltered connection to the road, featuring a fully open design with a minimal windshield.
- Targa: A versatile alternative with a full windshield.
The purest car design geometry, consisting of just two lines.
The new Bertone RUNABOUT follows the Zero principle in terms of design and geometry. The distinctive profile can be easily memorized in just two seconds, with the car’s two main lines clearly visible.
The L-shape on the side, starting from the roll bar and continuing all the way to the front, thereby creates a wedge shape, while the horizontal bottom line gives the car a somewhat nautical feel.
Design evolution: a contemporary tribute.
At the heart of the Bertone RUNABOUT are its iconic pop-up headlights, seamlessly blending nostalgia with modern technology. Unlike the 1969 concept, where the headlamps were housed in prominent nacelles within the rollbar structure behind the seats, the new RUNABOUT integrates classic pop-up headlamps into its sleek design, ensuring both an iconic look and optimal functionality.

Coda Tronca: A modern interpretation of the classic truncated tail with round taillights, an industrial-inspired engine cover, and an aluminum fuel cap artistically placed on top.
Aerodynamic S duct: Ingeniously integrated into the front design, optimizing airflow for enhanced cooling and downforce.
Signature horizontal line: This elegant detail runs seamlessly across the car’s width, accentuating its bold stance and tying together the sculpted fenders.

Bertone introduces a refined selection of colors that blend heritage with modern aesthetics. The new images showcase:
- Rame Antico: A sophisticated antique copper shade inspired by classic Italian craftsmanship.
